The reconstruction was led by KMP CID Commander Milton Birungi Beigumamu, Kabalagala Division Commander Akongo Francis, and CID Kampala South Regional Commander Arthur Twiinamatsiko. It involved the two key suspects in the case, Vincent Arnold Nsamba, also known as Sitenda, and Rose Tusiime.

During the exercise, the suspects took detectives step-by-step through the tragic night, detailing the chain of events that began at a local bar and later culminated in the physical altercation that claimed the life of the iconic Ugandan musician.

According to police sources present at the reconstruction, Nsamba and Tusiime separately narrated how the evening unfolded, from their initial presence at the bar to the movements that followed and the confrontation that turned fatal.

Investigators guided the suspects to point out specific locations, demonstrate actions, and clarify the sequence of events as part of efforts to corroborate statements earlier recorded during interrogation.

Heavily armed officers cordoned off the reconstruction scenes to control crowds and ensure the safety of the suspects, investigators, and onlookers. The death of Moses Matovu, a towering figure in Uganda’s music industry and a long-serving leader of the Afrigo Band, sparked national grief and intense public interest, with many Ugandans demanding swift justice.

Police say the reconstruction is a critical phase of the investigation, intended to test the consistency of the suspects’ accounts, identify corroborating evidence, and fill gaps ahead of the compilation of the case file for prosecution.

CID detectives documented the entire process through video recordings, photographs, and written notes, which will form part of the evidence to be forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal guidance.

Moses Matovu, fondly known for his decades-long contribution to Ugandan music through Afrigo Band, is regarded as one of the pioneers who shaped the country’s modern band music. His death has been described by fellow artists, fans, and cultural leaders as a monumental loss to the nation’s creative industry.

Police officials who spoke on condition of anonymity said the investigation remains active, with detectives still pursuing additional lines of inquiry, including forensic analysis and statements from other witnesses who were present on the night in question.

Authorities have assured the public of a thorough and impartial investigation, urging calm and patience as the legal process takes its course.

“The reconstruction helps us verify the facts as narrated by the suspects against the evidence we have gathered. It is a standard but crucial procedure in serious crimes such as this,” a senior detective involved in the case said.

By the end of the exercise, investigators expressed confidence that significant progress had been made, noting that the findings would strengthen the prosecution’s case.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue. Police say further updates will be communicated as the case develops, while security remains heightened around key aspects of the probe due to the sensitivity and public attention surrounding the death of the music legend.
