KAMPALA, Uganda — Ugandan rapper Ivan Wabwire, popularly known as Da Agent, has been recognised by Bossip Africa for what the organisation has recorded as the fastest rap delivery in East Africa.

The recognition is based on a passage from Da Agent’s 2024 song “Tewepima Nange,” in which the rapper delivered 33 syllables in 3.75 seconds, according to a certificate issued by the Bossip Africa Record Registry.

The registry measured the performance at 8.5 syllables per second and issued Da Agent a certificate on September 19, 2026, under record number BA-RR-2026-001.

According to the certificate, the assessment was conducted by Derrick Ssentamu, who independently timed the passage and counted the syllables while listening to the recording at reduced speed.

The assessment covered Da Agent’s natural delivery in both Luganda and English, with the performance location listed as Kampala. The certificate was signed by Nathan Atiluk, Editor-in-Chief of Bossip Africa.

His performances draw heavily on Luganda, while also incorporating English, wordplay, proverbs and humour.

Da Agent has cited international rap figures including Twista, Eminem and Busta Rhymes among influences on his approach to fast-flow rap.

The latest recognition focuses specifically on the speed of lyrical delivery, rather than commercial success or popularity.

The Bossip Africa Record Registry based its assessment on the number of syllables delivered within a defined period, resulting in the reported rate of 8.5 syllables per second.

The certification gives Uganda’s hip-hop scene an international-facing reference point for Da Agent’s distinctive high-speed rap style and highlights the growing range of performance techniques emerging from East Africa’s music industry.
