St Mary’s College Mayenze has opened the third term with a strong message of faith, discipline and academic determination after the entire school community gathered for a special Holy Mass on Monday, September 21, 2026, seeking God’s guidance and blessings as learners and teachers begin the final stretch of the academic year.
The Holy Mass was celebrated by Father Simon Peter Okumu, who led students, teachers and school administrators in prayers for wisdom, protection, good health and success. The school community entrusted the new term to God, praying for grace and favour as the institution continues working towards higher academic standards and the overall development of its learners.
Particular attention was given to Form Four and Form Six candidates who are preparing for their final examinations. The school prayed for the candidates to remain focused, disciplined and determined, while also asking for financial support, wisdom and the ability to make the right decisions during this important period of their education.
The school leadership reminded learners that the future they desire will be shaped by the choices and effort they make today. Students were encouraged to study consistently, use their time wisely, participate in academic teams and support one another, with the school highlighting careers such as ministry, law, engineering, aviation and public service as some of the paths learners can pursue through commitment to education.
The Mass was attended by the school principal, headteacher, deputy headteacher and directors of studies, together with other members of the school community. Their participation reflected the institution’s continued emphasis on nurturing learners spiritually, academically and morally, while creating an environment where students can discover their abilities and work towards becoming responsible members of society.

In a further effort to encourage academic excellence, St Mary’s College Mayenze recognised students who produced outstanding results in the recent mock examinations. The high-performing learners were rewarded with a Shs50,000 exemption from their third-term school fees, giving them an additional incentive to maintain their performance and challenge themselves to achieve even better results.
The school encouraged other learners to view the reward not simply as recognition for the top performers, but as motivation for everyone to raise their academic standards. Students were reminded that consistent reading, discipline, cooperation with teachers and proper use of school time can make a significant difference as they work towards their end-of-year examinations.
As the third term gets underway, St Mary’s College Mayenze is combining prayer with hard work and a renewed commitment to excellence. With candidates preparing for their final examinations and the entire school community focused on improvement, the institution is looking ahead with confidence while entrusting its academic journey and the future of its learners to God.
