Ugandan media personality Zahara Totto has attracted attention after speaking openly about her expensive lifestyle and the amount of money she says she spends on a daily basis. The entertainer described herself as someone who does not significantly cut costs when it comes to clothes, fuel, phone usage and other personal expenses.
Totto reportedly made the remarks while explaining how she manages her everyday lifestyle. She said her daily spending can reach about $500, which translates to a substantial amount of money when converted into Uganda shillings.
“I spend $500 daily,” Totto said while describing her lifestyle. Her statement has since generated discussion online, with many people reacting to the amount she says she can spend within a single day.
According to Totto, one of the reasons her expenses are high is her approach to clothing. She said she does not repeat her clothes, suggesting that she regularly wears different outfits instead of frequently appearing in the same clothes.
“I don’t repeat my clothes,” she said. The comment has added to her reputation for openly discussing her lifestyle, fashion choices and personal preferences in public.
Totto also said that her vehicle contributes significantly to her daily expenses because it consumes a lot of fuel. She explained that fuel is one of the regular costs she has to deal with because of the type of car she drives and the amount of movement involved in her lifestyle.

“My car uses a lot of fuel,” Totto said. Her comment suggests that transport is another major area where she spends money, especially considering the amount of movement involved in her work and social activities.
The media personality also spoke about the cost of using her mobile phone. She said she consumes a lot of internet data because she does not normally move around carrying portable routers.
According to Totto, her phone itself is expensive, with her claiming that it is worth about UGX 9 million. She said the combination of using an expensive smartphone and relying heavily on mobile data contributes to her communication expenses.
“My phone also uses a lot of data because I don’t move around with routers—it’s a UGX 9 million phone,” she said. The statement has attracted particular attention because of the amount she mentioned as the value of her phone.
Totto also explained that she does not try to reduce her communication expenses by relying on WhatsApp calls. She said she prefers making direct calls, meaning she uses ordinary mobile airtime when communicating with people.
“I don’t save on airtime because I don’t make WhatsApp calls; all my calls are direct,” Totto said. She presented this as another reason why her daily expenditure can become high.
Zahara Totto is a familiar face in Uganda’s entertainment and media industry. Her career began at a young age, with reports indicating that she appeared on children’s programming at the former WBS TV before later returning to television through other entertainment programmes.
She later became widely known through entertainment and celebrity gossip programming. Totto gained significant attention while working on Spark TV’s “Live Wire,” where she co-hosted the show with Annatalia Ozzie before the pair later moved to Next Media.
In 2018, Totto and Annatalia joined Next Media, where they became associated with the entertainment programme “Uncut.” She also worked with Next Radio, expanding her presence from television into radio broadcasting.

Her career has not been limited to television and radio. Totto has also been involved in event hosting and has pursued work as a DJ, using the name DJ Zato. She has therefore built a career across several sections of Uganda’s entertainment industry.
Totto’s public personality has often been characterised by outspoken comments about entertainment, relationships, fashion and lifestyle. Her latest remarks about daily spending have similarly attracted public attention because of the unusually high amount she says she can spend in a day.
The reported $500 daily expenditure, together with her comments about clothes, fuel, airtime and mobile data, has sparked conversations about the lifestyle of Ugandan entertainers and public personalities. While some people may question the figures, the statements remain Totto’s own description of her personal spending.
Her comments also show how different aspects of a celebrity’s lifestyle can combine to create significant daily expenses. From changing outfits and fuelling a vehicle to purchasing mobile data and making direct calls, Totto says several routine activities contribute to her overall expenditure.
For now, Zahara Totto’s remarks have become another widely discussed moment involving the outspoken media personality. Her description of spending $500 a day, not repeating clothes, driving a fuel-consuming car and using a UGX 9 million phone has placed her personal lifestyle firmly at the centre of public conversation.
