Peace Kesiime Bagorogoza the widow of late businessman Dr James Musinguzi Garuga has evicted her mother-in-law Violet Garuga from her land in Rugyeyo , Kanungu district, this website can exclusively report.
According to a very close family member, the aging Canon Violet Garuga has been kicked off from the late son’s ancestral lands registered in Dr. James Garuga’s names where she was earning a livelihood by grazing animals and growing Tea, an economic activity in the area.
“The late James Garuga had given the land to his mother when he was still alive to earn a living and take care of her needs. This woman’s evil and devilish nature Knows no limits” Says family member.
According to Uganda succession laws, the late Garuga’s mother is entitled to 4% of the Estate as a dependant relative in line with the provisions of the succession act Cap 268.
According to succession act ,Cap. 268 and in the case of late Garuga who died without a Will (interstate);Distribution of property on death of intestate
23, shall be divided among the following classes in the following manner-
where the intestate is survived by a spouse, a lineal descendant, a
(a dependent relative and a customary heir or heiress
the spouse shall receive twenty percent:
(i)
(ii) the dependent relatives shall receive four percent:
(iii) the lineal descendants shall receive seventy-five percent:
and
(iv) the customary heir or heiress shall receive one percent, of the whole of the property of the intestate;
“She has now fraudulently dispossessed Garuga’s biological mother of her grazing lands where her Son, the murdered late Dr.Musinguzi James Garuga had left her to graze animals and grow tea to provide her with a livelihood”.
“This is despite the fact that Peace Kesiime Bagorogoza is not the Administrator of the murdered late Dr.Garuga’s Estate.Her evil intention is to deprive the late Dr.Garuga’s mother ,Canon Violet Garuga of a livelihood”.
Bagorogoza’s latest sad action followed after she excluded Garuga’s biological mother from her impugned application for sole letters of Administration that has since been caveated by Garuga’s Heir Alwyn Carl Garuga on September 2.2025 caveat.
Alwyn Garuga in his Civil Suit No. 346 of 2025 told court that Peace Bagorogoza the petitioner in the letters of administration fraudulently and grossly underdeclared the deceased’s estate and was neither transparent nor accountable.
He further told court that the death of the late Musinguzi James Garuga is
attributable to the petitioner (Kesiime) in collusion with others with potential successful indictment on murder charges.
He added that Kesiime is generally un-equitable and won’t preserve the interests of all beneficiaries, had circumvented family resolution and consent before petitioning and perpetually sidelined the caveator even before the death of Musinguzi James Garuga.
He further noted that all beneficiaries are adults and capable of and desirous
of jointly administering the estate of their deceased father adding that Kesiime generally does not have the interests of
the estate at heart and was medically struggling so won’t administer the huge estate.
The petitioner Bagorogoza also in her application had not presented a Certificate of No objection from the Administrator General.
In his ruling, Justice John Eudes Keitirima of the High Court’s Family Division appointed the Administrator General (Victor Manzi) to take over neutral control of the 1 trillion shilling vast business empire.
The Administrator General now manages the estate under court supervision but does not have powers to distribute the assets until the substantive case is concluded.
