NTUNGAMO, Uganda — Ntungamo Municipality has launched road maintenance works worth UGX 224.5 million under the Road Maintenance Grant for the first quarter of the 2026/2027 financial year, targeting three roads to improve accessibility within the municipality.
According to an invitation letter dated October 8, 2026, issued by the Municipal Town Clerk, Mukobi Seleverio Byarufu, stakeholders were invited to attend the launch of the approved road maintenance projects.
The three roads earmarked for maintenance are Bamutarara Road, Kigandire-Korora Road and Bampata-Matooba Road, with a combined length of 5.6 kilometres.
Bamutarara Road will receive UGX 83.98 million for maintenance works covering 2.5 kilometres, while Kigandire-Korora Road, measuring one kilometre, has been allocated UGX 54.4 million.
Bampata-Matooba Road, which covers 2.1 kilometres, has been allocated UGX 86.1 million, making it the largest of the three projects by budget allocation.
The three projects have a combined allocation of UGX 224,497,728 under the first-quarter Road Maintenance Grant.
The programme is expected to improve the condition of the selected roads, ease the movement of residents and goods, and enhance access to homes, businesses and other services within Ntungamo Municipality.
The launch comes as the municipality prepares for an anticipated visit by the Minister of State for Local Government, Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, on October 14, 2026.
The road maintenance projects form part of ongoing efforts to maintain local infrastructure and improve service delivery, although the extent of the benefits will depend on the quality and timely completion of the works.
Residents and other stakeholders will be keen to see the allocated funds translated into improved road conditions and more reliable transport within the municipality.
