Police in Mitooma District have arrested three school administrators as investigations continue into the circumstances under which a Senior Four candidate reportedly missed the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations despite allegedly completing the required registration payment.
The suspects have been identified as Jason Ahereza, headteacher of Nyakihiita Secondary School; Abias Mujuni, deputy headteacher of Mayanga Secondary School; and Ambrose Centenary, headteacher of Rwakitanda Secondary School.
According to the reported allegations, the candidate had fulfilled the required payment for examination registration but was unable to sit the UCE examinations, raising questions about how the registration process was handled and why the student was left out.
The circumstances surrounding the candidate’s failure to sit the examinations remain unclear, and police investigations are expected to establish what happened, including whether there were irregularities in the registration process and the extent of responsibility, if any, of the school administrators.
The arrests have also brought renewed attention to the responsibilities of school administrators in ensuring that candidates are properly registered and that relevant examination requirements are met within the stipulated timelines.
The incident underscores the importance of effective communication between schools, candidates, parents and examination authorities to ensure that registration payments and other requirements are properly processed and verified.
Police investigations are ongoing, and further details are expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
