Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Coordinator for Kampala Metropolitan, Hajjat Kenyangi Sophia Safina, has commended residents of Ntungamo District for their turnout at a PLU Baraza held on Saturday, where supporters expressed backing for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s anticipated 2031 presidential bid.
Kenyangi praised the residents for attending the gathering despite heavy rainfall, describing their participation as a demonstration of support for the PLU chairman.
“Despite the rains, the people of Ntungamo came in big numbers and showed PLU and Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba love and support. They are totally ready to support him in 2031. As PLU we are so happy to witness such,” Kenyangi said.
The event took place in Rubare, Ntungamo District, where supporters gathered as the PLU continued its countrywide mobilisation activities ahead of the 2031 general elections.
Kainerugaba, who chairs the PLU, is expected by the organisation to pursue the presidency in 2031. The Baraza was part of the group’s efforts to mobilise support for his political ambitions.
Kenyangi’s remarks followed the gathering, which the organisation described as an expression of support for Kainerugaba’s anticipated candidacy.
However, the turnout at the event does not, on its own, establish the level of support for the proposed bid among the wider population of Ntungamo or Uganda.
The PLU has continued to hold mobilisation activities in different parts of the country as it seeks to build support ahead of the next general elections.
