In a post on X, Gen Muhoozi said security agencies working under the inter-agency security architecture had quickly apprehended the suspect. He identified him as Nsamba Arnold, also known as Sitenda.

“I want to thank all security forces, working under the inter-agency security architecture, for quickly apprehending the prime suspect in the murder of legendary musician Moses Matovu,” Gen Muhoozi said in his statement.

He added that the suspect was in custody and would face the law, assuring the public that justice would be served. His comments came after police and other security agencies mounted a manhunt following Matovu’s death.

Police have identified the suspect as 41-year-old Vincent Nsamba, who is also reported under the names Arnold or Sitenda. He was arrested in Ochange Ward, Yesu Amala, Nansana Division in Wakiso District.

According to preliminary police findings, Matovu was involved in a physical altercation with a man who was believed to have previously been in a relationship with a woman who was with the musician. Police have stressed that the exact circumstances surrounding the confrontation are still being established.

Matovu was rushed to Kibuli Hospital after sustaining serious injuries, but he later died. His death triggered widespread mourning among musicians, fans and other Ugandans who remembered his decades-long contribution to the country’s music industry.

The arrest of Nsamba has now become a major development in the investigation. Police have continued gathering evidence and questioning people who may help investigators establish exactly what happened before, during and after the confrontation.

As the investigation continues, Gen Muhoozi’s message has emphasised that the arrested suspect will be subjected to the law. The suspect is being treated as a prime suspect, while the full circumstances of Matovu’s death remain subject to investigation and any subsequent court proceedings.
