KAMPALA — Minister for the Presidency Milly Babalanda has dismissed a list circulating on social media and WhatsApp groups purporting to show a new reshuffle of Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and their deputies.
Babalanda said the list is fake and did not originate from the Office of the President.
In a statement shared through her official X account, the minister said her office had been alerted to the document being widely circulated and urged the public to disregard it.
“My office has been drawn to a fake list currently in circulation on social media and WhatsApp groups alleging to be a ‘new list for the reshuffle of Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and Deputies,’” Babalanda said.
She clarified that any genuine appointments or reshuffles involving RDCs and their deputies would be formally communicated by the Office of the President through official government channels.
The minister also cautioned media houses, social media users and other stakeholders against further sharing the purported list, warning that doing so could contribute to the spread of misinformation.
The clarification comes amid heightened public interest in government appointments following the formation of Uganda’s new Cabinet and the commencement of the 12th Parliament. Official government documents identify Babalanda as the Minister for the Presidency.
Babalanda has therefore called on the public to rely on official government communication for information regarding changes involving RDCs, RCCs and their deputies.
