Speaking during a council meeting chaired by the Speaker and guided by District Chairman Ogwal Omara, Mr. Magwar noted that while high-profile government officials including President YK Museveni (twice) and Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja have visited Amolatar, the Speaker and Vice President are yet to set foot in the area.

“When the Speaker of Parliament visits your district, it goes along with an immense and long-lasting impact to be enjoyed by community members,” Mr. Magwar stated.

He urged the MP to invite the Speaker to commission her proposed mortuary construction project or launch other flagship district programs.

In her response, Hon. Jannet Auma Okao highly welcomed the proposal to invite the Speaker of Parliament to set foot in Amolatar, describing it as a high-profile event that would be historic for the hard-to-reach fishing district of Northern Uganda.

The platform, which involves youth, the press, clergy, members unfairly treated in corruption scandals, promoters and the general public, has gathered pace and needs her support, Mr. Magwar said.

The Assistant District Health Officer in charge of Maternal Child Health, Atim Victoria Sharon, also highlighted challenges in the health sector due to lack of funds and dwindling support from men towards their wives and children when they come to hospital with ailments.

The Deputy RDC congratulated the district upon the historic achievement of twice winning the prestigious dvoc Paco trophy and asked the MP to extend her generosity to children under 14 years to develop their football skills.

Mr. Magwar revealed that he initiated a youth cup code-named the Centre of Uganda Cup but lamented that it did not go far because of lack of funding.
