Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has once again attacked opposition figures Erias Lukwago and Dr Kizza Besigye, questioning their whereabouts as both remain entangled in court cases and detention over treason-related charges.
The Chief of Defence Forces and Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) made the remarks amid ongoing legal battles involving the two veteran opposition figures.
“Where is Erias Lukwago? Where is Kizza Besigye? We are going to teach the fools another lesson,” Gen. Muhoozi stated.
The statement comes at a time when Lukwago and Besigye are facing legal challenges that have attracted national and international attention.
Dr Kizza Besigye, a longtime opposition leader and four-time presidential candidate, is currently facing treason-related charges, while Erias Lukwago, his lawyer and political ally, has also been charged with misprision of treason.
Lukwago was charged after prosecutors accused him of allegedly failing to report information about activities that authorities linked to a treason case involving Besigye and others. He denied the accusations, saying the people mentioned were his clients.
The former Kampala Lord Mayor was later remanded as the case continued, with his arrest and detention becoming a major subject of political debate in Uganda.

Besigye, meanwhile, has remained one of President Yoweri Museveni’s strongest critics for decades and has repeatedly challenged government policies and election processes.
The latest remarks by Gen. Muhoozi have added fresh tension to an already heated political environment, with supporters and critics interpreting his statement differently.
Supporters of PLU have described Gen. Muhoozi’s comments as a warning against individuals they accuse of opposing government interests, while opposition supporters have raised concerns over the tone of the statements.
Lukwago and Besigye have been central figures in Uganda’s opposition politics, with both playing major roles in challenging the ruling government.
Lukwago has also served as part of Besigye’s legal defence team, making his arrest and charges closely connected to the wider case involving the opposition leader.
The accusations against the two opposition figures have become part of a broader national discussion about political freedoms, security operations and the role of courts in handling politically sensitive cases.
Gen. Muhoozi’s latest statement also highlights his continued involvement in political discussions through PLU, an organisation he leads while serving as the country’s top military commander.
His public comments on opposition figures have previously generated strong reactions, with supporters praising his confidence while critics questioning the involvement of a serving military officer in political matters.

The cases involving Lukwago and Besigye continue to attract attention as court proceedings move forward and their supporters demand justice and fair treatment.
Authorities have maintained that the cases are based on legal matters, while the accused and their supporters have disputed the allegations.
The latest statement from Gen. Muhoozi has therefore reopened discussions about the relationship between Uganda’s political leadership, security institutions and opposition groups.
As the legal battles continue, many Ugandans are watching closely to see how the cases involving Lukwago and Besigye will develop.
For now, Gen. Muhoozi’s remarks have placed the two opposition leaders back at the centre of political debate.
The coming weeks are expected to reveal more about the direction of the cases and the response from both government supporters and opposition actors.
