Ugandan singer and presidential advisor Catherine Kusasira has sparked debate after advising women to give their husbands the freedom to pursue other women, arguing that a man’s interest in other partners does not necessarily mean he has stopped loving his wife.

Kusasira made the remarks while sharing her views on relationships, urging women not to panic or feel threatened whenever their husbands show romantic interest in other women. According to the singer, women should understand that a man can have feelings for multiple women while still maintaining love for his wife.

The singer argued that men should be free to father as many children as they want, insisting that women cannot always control their partners’ romantic decisions. She maintained that when a man decides to pursue another woman, his wife should not automatically interpret it as a sign that their relationship has come to an end.

“My advice to women is that when your husband hits on another lady, give them the freedom to do so. That doesn’t stop him from loving you. No matter the number of women he holds in his heart, as long as you keep glowing, that’s all and enough,” Kusasira said.

She further advised women to prioritise their personal appearance, happiness and confidence instead of spending all their time worrying about their husbands’ interest in other women. Kusasira believes that maintaining a positive attitude and taking care of oneself can help women remain confident, regardless of the challenges they face in their relationships.

“Theirs is no woman that I fear. What I do is make sure that I’m good and nice-looking. Whenever you look good, a man can’t decide to dump you. You just have to make yourself jolly and happy,” she explained, highlighting the importance she attaches to personal grooming and maintaining happiness.

Kusasira also argued that men can develop romantic interests in several women but may not necessarily want to build lasting relationships with all of them. She suggested that women should pay attention to whether their partners still value and need them rather than becoming overly concerned about every other woman who attracts their husbands’ attention.

Her remarks have reignited conversations about marriage, faithfulness, polygamy and the expectations placed on women in relationships. While some may interpret her advice as a call for tolerance and emotional confidence, others may question whether accepting a partner’s involvement with other women is a healthy approach to marriage, particularly where mutual consent, trust and respect are concerned.
