Esther Atim, who had been raising her children largely on her own, says she faced constant financial pressure while trying to meet essential needs such as school fees, medical expenses, food and housing.

For years, Atim took on different kinds of work to support her four children. Despite her efforts, providing for the family remained a daily struggle.

Her fortunes reportedly changed after a friend introduced her to Uganda Bettors Association fixed games.

“A friend of mine introduced me to Uganda Bettors Association. She was confident in them because of the positive testimonials she had shown me online. I went through the registration process for the fixed games, paid the required fee and was guided on what to do,” she said.

Atim says she had no previous knowledge or experience in sports betting when she joined the service.

“I had no knowledge about betting, but these guys guided me through every step until I made it.”

The following day, she contacted the association to find out whether her ticket had won or lost.

“I called them asking whether the ticket had won or lost, but they laughed and assured me that it had won. They told me the only way I could confirm was by logging into my Fortebet account.”

When she checked her account, Atim says she was shocked to see the balance.

“I logged in and saw a figure in my account balance that I could hardly believe. I couldn’t believe my eyes.”

She was subsequently advised to contact the betting company regarding the withdrawal process after discovering that she could not transfer the entire amount to her mobile money account.

“They advised me to go to their Kampala office, which I did the following day, and I received my money instantly,” she narrated.

She says her estranged husband contacted her shortly after learning about the money and asked them to reunite and raise their children together.

“After receiving news that I had won this money, the father of my children immediately called me and asked us to get back together and raise our children as a family.”

According to Atim, the couple separated about five years ago after her husband allegedly failed to provide for the family and subsequently began living with another woman.

“He left me about five years ago because he failed to provide for the family and started staying with another woman, leaving me to struggle with the children,” she said.
