A tragic road accident along the Mubende–Mityana Road has claimed the lives of businessman Kenneth Kaijuka and his son, leaving two other children injured and fighting for their lives.
The fatal crash happened on Friday, August 14, 2026, at around 8:25 p.m. in Kagavu, Kalonga Sub-county, Mubende District.
According to preliminary police reports, the accident involved an Actros truck and a Nissan Murano carrying several occupants.
Police said the truck, registration number UBK 132F with trailer registration number UBK 710J, was travelling from Mubende towards Mityana when the driver reportedly lost control.
The truck allegedly crossed into the opposite lane while descending at Kagavu before overturning onto the oncoming Nissan Murano, registration number UBD 063R.
The heavy impact left the Nissan Murano badly damaged, with the trailer landing on top of the vehicle and trapping the occupants inside.
Two people died at the scene, including businessman Kenneth Kaijuka, aged 45, and his son.
The accident also left four children injured, with two of them reportedly being Kenneth’s children who survived the crash.

The injured children were identified as Johana Bala, 11, Isabella Rebecca, 5, Gabriella Kawini, 12, and Dorothy, 12.
The children were rushed to Mubende Hospital where they are receiving medical attention.
Police and rescue teams faced a difficult task trying to remove the victims because the trailer had fallen directly on top of the Nissan Murano.
Wamala Region Police spokesperson SSP Lameck Kigozi said a crane had to be used to lift the trailer before rescuers could access those trapped inside the vehicle.
“The rescue operation required the use of a crane to lift the trailer that had rested on top of the Nissan Murano so that the victims and deceased persons could be accessed,” Kigozi said.
The bodies of the deceased were later taken to Mubende Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination as investigations continued.
The wreckage from both vehicles was also set to be removed from the scene and taken to the police yard for further examination.
Preliminary findings indicate that careless driving could have contributed to the crash, although police said investigations are still ongoing.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the Nissan Murano was travelling at high speed before colliding with the loaded truck, but authorities are yet to confirm the exact cause of the accident.
Police said they are working to establish the circumstances that led to the truck losing control and overturning onto the vehicle.
SSP Kigozi urged motorists using the Mubende–Mityana Road to be extra careful, especially when driving through slopes and dangerous sections of the road.
The accident has caused grief among relatives, friends and the business community who are mourning the loss of Kenneth and his son.
Authorities have continued appealing to drivers to observe traffic rules, avoid reckless driving and protect lives on the roads.
Investigations into the deadly Mubende crash remain ongoing as the injured children continue receiving treatment.
