I am very happy to see that institutions are reacting against corruption, with the Office of the Auditor General being the latest to sack its senior officials at the regional level.
Honestly speaking, and I am entitled to my opinion, the Office of the Auditor General should have acted long ago.
Whatever mess that Hon. Balaam is discovering in the local governments, the Office of the Auditor General should also be blamed because they have a common link with the local government internal auditors.
I have experienced a scenario whereby some of the Auditor General’s team dodged auditing some accounts in the local government after receiving fat pay to conceal the gaps.
Look at the saga in Parliament, where the Auditor General sits, but they failed to detect the vigorous expenditure by the former Speaker and her team. What was mismanaged in Parliament by the 12th Parliament under the leadership of former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among is unbelievable.
Where is the report on the regional Parliament, and what did the country benefit from that regional parliamentary sitting if it was not just about embezzling public funds?
Some of the MPs who advocated for the regional parliamentary sitting have bounced back to Parliament. They should be held responsible for that mess.
Yes, officials have been dismissed, but that’s not enough. What about recovering what they could have taken?
