KASESE, Uganda — Police in Kasese Municipality are investigating the death of a 19-year-old housemaid who was allegedly found dead at her employer’s home in Kamaiba Lower Cell, Central Division.
The deceased has been identified as Sachesse Kabugho, a resident of Kamaiba Lower Cell in Kasese Municipality.
According to Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson Elly Maate, Kabugho was employed as a housemaid by 57-year-old driver Issa Kibirige.
Maate said Kibirige returned home at about 8:00pm on August 10, 2026, only to discover Kabugho dead.
Police said initial information indicates that Kabugho may have died by suicide.
Maate said the circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated to establish what exactly happened before her death.
Police are expected to conduct further investigations, including examining the scene and recording statements from relevant individuals, to establish the circumstances that led to the young woman’s death.
The incident has left residents of Kamaiba Lower Cell shocked, with questions expected to be answered as investigations continue.
Police have urged the public with information that could assist the investigation to come forward and provide it to the relevant authorities.
