Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has issued another warning directed at his brother-in-law Odrek Rwabwogo, saying family connections will not protect him from accountability.
In a statement shared publicly, Gen Muhoozi said Odrek Rwabwogo should not assume that his relationship with Muhoozi’s sister would shield him from criticism or consequences.
“If Odrek Rwabwogo thinks hiding behind my sister will save him, he is joking,” Gen Muhoozi said.
The remarks have attracted attention because of the close family relationship between the two individuals and the public nature of their disagreement.
Odrek Rwabwogo, a businessman and presidential adviser, is married to Patricia Karugire, the sister of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
The latest comments come amid a wider public debate involving influential figures, leadership issues and differing opinions about Uganda’s political direction.

Gen Muhoozi has increasingly used social media platforms to communicate his views on national matters and respond to individuals he disagrees with.
His direct style of communication has often generated public discussions, with supporters praising his openness while critics question the tone of some of his statements.
The warning to Rwabwogo has added another layer to conversations about political relationships and personal disagreements involving Uganda’s prominent personalities.
Many Ugandans have followed the exchange closely, given the positions and public profiles of the individuals involved.
Gen Muhoozi has previously stated that he expects loyalty, commitment and support from those involved in matters affecting the country’s future.
The latest statement suggests that he believes personal relationships should not interfere with issues he considers important.
Rwabwogo has not publicly responded to the warning, leaving many observers waiting for his reaction to the remarks.
The disagreement has also raised questions about how family relationships among public figures can intersect with political and national conversations.
In Uganda’s political environment, statements from high-profile individuals often attract wide public interest because of their potential impact.
Social media has become a major platform where leaders and public figures share their positions and engage directly with citizens.
Gen Muhoozi’s latest remarks are expected to continue fueling discussions among political supporters, commentators and members of the public.

Observers are watching to see whether the exchange will develop further or whether both sides will choose to handle the matter privately.
The situation has also highlighted the challenges faced by public figures whose personal relationships become connected to public debates.
While disagreements among leaders are common, the involvement of family ties often makes such disputes attract even greater attention.
For supporters of Gen Muhoozi, the statement represents a message of firmness and determination.
For others, it raises questions about the balance between personal disagreements, public responsibility and political communication.
As the debate continues, many Ugandans will be following any further statements from Gen Muhoozi or Odrek Rwabwogo regarding the matter.
