In a post attributed to him on X, Gen Muhoozi wrote: “Observer is Semujju’s newspaper isn’t it? Let me see how they behave.” The remark appeared to reference Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the former Kira Municipality MP and journalist who previously worked with Daily Monitor before entering active politics.

Gen Muhoozi’s comment comes amid ongoing public attention surrounding his interactions with sections of the Ugandan media. The reference to The Observer has particularly attracted interest because of Ssemujju Nganda’s previous journalism career and his continued involvement in public affairs.

Ssemujju, who has a long background in journalism and politics, previously worked with Daily Monitor before becoming an elected politician. He has remained a prominent public commentator on matters concerning governance, politics and the rule of law.

The CDF’s remarks have consequently raised questions about whether The Observer could become the next media organisation to receive increased attention from him. However, in the statement quoted, Gen Muhoozi did not identify any specific article published by the newspaper or accuse it of committing a particular offence.

The Observer has continued reporting on political developments involving Gen Muhoozi, including stories concerning his Patriotic League of Uganda activities and the wider political environment ahead of 2031. The latest exchange therefore places further focus on how the newspaper will cover the CDF and political developments involving him.
