In Uganda, there is a small group of people whose mandate is only to bring down anyone who gets closer to the President, and that is what is currently happening with Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja.

Last time, in my previous opinion, I wrote about how Hon. Nabanja was being undermined by a section of leaders when President Museveni appointed her as Prime Minister.

Some of the leaders castigated the appointment of Hon. Nabanja as a joke, while others claimed that Hon. Nabanja could not even manage a cabbage collection firm. Well, that was them. The woman from Kakumiro concentrated on her mandate, and the President was pleased with her performance.

Even when President Museveni planned his reshuffle of the new Cabinet for 2026, all corridor talk was about Hon. Nabanja. Everyone thought Hon. Nabanja would not retain her position because of what they had alleged against her, with the intention of making the appointing authority lose trust in Nabanja.

They didn’t know that the President had liked Hon. Nabanja’s method of work—a very aggressive woman, a good time manager, who delivers the exact amount of support that the President sends her with in case she is representing the President.

When it is time for mobilizing support for the NRM, Hon. Nabanja leaves her Prime Minister title behind and takes to the stage, dancing all styles to entertain the crowd.

But despite all the efforts Hon. Nabanja is putting in place to serve to the best of her knowledge and please Ugandans and the appointing authority, her method of work is turning out to be an ulcer to other leaders, particularly those who report to her as their boss.

Having failed in the first and second attempts to bring down the hardworking daughter of Kakumiro before the President, the clique has again resumed, this time with fresh serious allegations and a tactical move to soil her name before Mzee.

Meetings and meetings are being conducted in different hotels, discussing how to make the President lose trust in Nabanja.

Some of the people championing this war are ministers and commissioners within the Prime Minister’s Office.

We shall continue bringing more details about this.
