Police have launched investigations into the death of a 22-year-old TikToker, Jovia Namuwulya, who was found dead inside her rented room in Bukoto, Kampala.
Namuwulya, who was also known on TikTok as Jovia1235, was discovered dead on August 20, 2026, after her relatives became concerned when she stopped responding to their phone calls.
The young woman was working as a waitress and was a resident of Mukalazi Zone, Bukoto I Parish in Nakawa Division, according to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala.
Police said Namuwulya’s body was found in a pool of blood inside the room she had rented for about seven months.
Her relatives reportedly contacted the caretaker after failing to reach her, prompting the caretaker and Namuwulya’s sister to go and check on her.
When they arrived, they found the door locked and could not immediately enter the room.
According to police, those who went to check on her looked through the window and noticed blood stains inside the room.

They later gained access to the room, where they found Namuwulya lying motionless in a pool of blood.
Police collected her body and transported it to the City Mortuary for a postmortem examination as investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death continued.
Authorities are currently searching for Namuwulya’s roommate, Rose Turindamukama, who is wanted in connection with the incident.
Police said Turindamukama had started living with Namuwulya about three months after visiting her at the rented room.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala confirmed that the roommate had not been found after the discovery of Namuwulya’s body.
“However, her friend Turindamukama Rose couldn’t be found and is currently being sought in connection with the incident,” Kawala said.
The death has attracted widespread attention, especially on social media platforms where Namuwulya had built a following through her TikTok activities.
Several versions of what may have happened have circulated online, but police have warned the public against relying on unverified information.
Among the claims circulating online are allegations involving a man identified only as Muhammad, who some social media users have linked to the incident.
Reports circulating online suggest that the two women may have met the man through the dating application Tinder and that a disagreement later occurred.

One version claims that Turindamukama alleged the man was involved in Namuwulya’s death and that she fled after becoming frightened.
However, police have not confirmed the existence of the alleged suspect, the claims about the incident, or any motive behind Namuwulya’s death.
Authorities have also not confirmed reports circulating online suggesting that Turindamukama left the country after the incident or that messages were later sent using Namuwulya’s identity.
Police said investigators are continuing with inquiries to establish what exactly happened before and during the incident.
The case remains under investigation as officers work to locate Turindamukama and gather more information surrounding the death of the young TikToker.
Namuwulya’s death has left family members, friends and followers mourning as they wait for answers from investigators.
