The 20-year-old was reportedly taken into custody by Edina Police on August 14, 2026, following allegations of domestic assault after his relationship with his pregnant girlfriend reportedly ended.

The arrest came shortly after Abba announced on social media that he and his girlfriend had separated, accusing her of being unfaithful and describing their relationship as troubled.

According to booking information published by Minneapolis Safety and Crime Alerts, Mayanja was booked on a misdemeanor domestic assault charge.

The charge reportedly relates to an alleged act intended to cause fear of immediate bodily harm or death.

It also remains unclear whether Abba’s former girlfriend, who is reportedly pregnant, was the person who made the complaint in the case.

Before his arrest, Abba had shared a series of posts on his verified Instagram account announcing the end of his relationship.

In one of the posts, he expressed anger over the breakup and accused his girlfriend of being abusive towards him.

“Finally done w this abusive ass girl,” Abba wrote in one of his messages while explaining his decision to end the relationship.

In another post, he claimed that he had been provoked for a long time and suggested that his actions were a response to what he described as repeated issues in the relationship.

Abba said people close to him knew him as someone who was peaceful and that he did not react without reason.

He further accused his girlfriend of understanding his weaknesses and using them against him during their relationship.

The young Mayanja did not provide specific details about the disagreement that allegedly led to his arrest, leaving many questions surrounding the incident.

The development has attracted attention in Uganda because of Abba’s family background and his connection to one of the country’s biggest music stars, Jose Chameleone.

The arrest comes months after Abba and his girlfriend, identified in Ugandan entertainment reports as Angel, announced that they were expecting their first child together.

Earlier reports indicated that Angel was around 19 weeks pregnant when the couple shared news about the pregnancy.

The couple had previously shared moments of their relationship on social media, including videos showing Angel’s pregnancy journey.

The pregnancy had attracted excitement among fans because it would make Jose Chameleone a grandfather for the first time.

Abba is the eldest son of Jose Chameleone and his former wife Daniella Atim, who have five children together.

Chameleone and Daniella’s relationship had faced public challenges over the years before Daniella relocated to the United States with their children.

Abba has in recent years developed his own public identity through social media, where he frequently shares his views, personal experiences and family moments.

The arrest has now placed the young Mayanja in the spotlight as legal proceedings continue and more details about the case are expected to emerge.
