Our Reporter | Rwampara — Karora Primary School, a government-aided school in Kinoni Town Council, Rwampara District, is seeking Shs20 million to renovate a dilapidated classroom block that has left about 200 learners studying in difficult conditions.
The classroom block is reportedly in a poor state, with no doors or windows, exposing both learners and teachers to harsh weather conditions and making teaching and learning increasingly difficult.
During rainy and windy weather, learners are exposed to the elements, while the absence of doors and windows has also raised concerns about the general safety and learning environment at the school.
The school is also facing a shortage of desks, forcing some pupils to sit on the floor during lessons. This has further affected the learning environment and the ability of learners to study comfortably.
School authorities are appealing to the government, local leaders, development partners, parents and well-wishers to support the renovation project.
According to the school, the Shs20 million required would help rehabilitate the classroom block, including installing doors and windows and addressing other structural challenges.
The school says improving the condition of the classrooms and providing adequate furniture would create a safer and more conducive environment for both learners and teachers.
With about 200 learners affected by the deteriorating facilities, the school leadership says urgent intervention is needed to prevent the situation from worsening and ensure that pupils can access quality education in a decent learning environment.
