Shock has gripped residents of Nansana West 1A in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District, following a deadly house fire in which three people are reported to have died.
The incident reportedly occurred around midnight, leaving residents in the area alarmed as police launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fire.
According to preliminary information, the victims were inside a house when the fire broke out. The landlord is reported to have locked herself and two other tenants inside the house before the building caught fire.
Kampala Metropolitan Police North Regional Police Commander, SSP Moses Nanoka, confirmed the incident, saying police had so far recovered three bodies from the scene.

Nanoka said investigations were ongoing to establish what exactly happened before and during the fire.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, including what caused the fire and why the occupants were reportedly locked inside the house.
The incident has left residents of Nansana West 1A in shock, with the recovery of three bodies turning what was initially a late-night fire incident into a major tragedy.
Police are expected to examine the scene and gather information from residents and other people who may have witnessed events leading up to the fire.
Investigators will also seek to establish the identities of the deceased and determine the circumstances under which they died.
The recovery of three bodies is likely to form a central part of the investigation as police work to reconstruct the events of the night.
At this stage, police have not publicly provided further details on the identities of the deceased, the extent of damage to the house or whether anyone else was injured or rescued from the scene.
It also remains unclear whether police have made any arrests in connection with the incident.
The reported circumstances involving a landlord and tenants are expected to receive particular attention as investigators establish whether the fire was accidental or resulted from another cause.
Residents have been urged to allow investigators to conduct their work as police continue gathering evidence from the scene.
SSP Nanoka’s confirmation that three bodies had been recovered provides the clearest official account available so far, but the investigation remains active.
More details are expected as police establish the identities of the victims and determine the events that preceded the fire.
Authorities are yet to release a final account of what caused the blaze or establish responsibility for the deaths.
The incident adds to concerns over fire safety in densely populated residential areas, where fires can spread rapidly and occupants may have limited escape routes.
For now, police investigations remain ongoing, with the three recovered bodies serving as the central evidence in efforts to establish what happened at the Nansana West 1A house around midnight.
