IBANDA, Uganda — Police in Ibanda District have launched investigations into the murder of a 65-year-old man whose body was discovered dumped in a tree forest just metres from his home.
The deceased, identified as Wilson Turyasasira, a resident of Rushaka III in Kalangala Ward, Bisheshe Division, Ibanda Municipality, was found dead along the Ibanda–Kamwenge Road.
According to preliminary information, Turyasasira’s body was discovered in the forest with his hands and arms tied, raising suspicion that he was attacked and killed before his body was dumped at the scene.
The discovery has left residents in the area concerned, particularly because the forest where the body was found is located only a short distance from the deceased’s home.
Police have since visited the scene and commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding Turyasasira’s death, including where and when he was attacked and the motive behind the suspected murder.
Investigators are also expected to examine the scene for clues that could help identify those responsible for the killing.
Police have appealed to anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to come forward and provide it to the relevant authorities.
The body was reportedly taken for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.
