Rwomushana was reportedly appearing on Simba Radio’s morning programme, Gasimbagane ne Bannamawulire, when the incident occurred earlier today. The programme was reportedly interrupted as the men entered the premises and allegedly escorted the veteran political commentator away.

A short video circulating and seen by our publication appears to show chaotic scenes inside the radio station. Several staff members and visitors can be seen moving hurriedly through corridors and doorways as the situation unfolds.

A man dressed in a red security shirt is also seen reacting to the commotion, while several individuals appear to be escorted from parts of the premises. However, the footage does not independently establish the identities of the men involved or confirm precisely what happened to Rwomushana after he was taken away.

As of publication, details surrounding the reported incident remain limited. It is not yet clear which security agency, if any, was involved, whether Rwomushana was formally arrested, what prompted the reported removal, or where he was taken.

Attempts to establish his current whereabouts and obtain an official explanation of the incident are expected to provide further clarity.

Rwomushana is a well-known figure in Uganda’s political commentary circles and has previously served in intelligence-related roles before becoming a prominent and often controversial political commentator. His outspoken views on government, opposition politics and national affairs have frequently attracted public attention.

His history of political commentary has also seen him become involved in several controversies and reported arrests over the years, making the latest incident particularly significant among political observers and media practitioners.

The reported removal from a radio station also raises fresh questions about the operating environment for broadcasters and political commentators, particularly when contentious political issues are being discussed on live or popular programmes.

At this stage, however, it would be premature to conclude who ordered the reported arrest or why it happened without confirmation from the relevant authorities.

The identity of the men seen at the station, the legal basis for Rwomushana’s reported detention and his current location remain among the key unanswered questions.

Simba Radio has not, at the time of publication, publicly provided a detailed account of the incident, while no official statement explaining Rwomushana’s reported removal has been confirmed.

Further developments, including any statement from the police, security agencies, Simba Radio management or Rwomushana’s representatives, could shed light on what transpired at the Bukoto-based station.

This is a developing story. More information will be added as it becomes available and the circumstances surrounding the reported incident are independently verified.
