Kabanda made the remarks while addressing supporters of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) at Gen Muhoozi’s office in Kampala, where he spoke about what he described as a new political chapter for Uganda.

According to Kabanda, President Museveni has already embraced Gen Muhoozi’s political journey and is fully aware of the plans surrounding his son’s presidential ambitions.

“The President is fully with us and behind this programme. He is indeed going to be the chief campaigner for the MK programme,” Kabanda said.

He told supporters that there should be no confusion between President Museveni and Gen Muhoozi, insisting that the two are working together and that the younger generation should prepare for the future.

Kabanda said Gen Muhoozi has for years been underestimated by critics who believed he could not build a strong political movement.

He recalled previous moments when his statements were dismissed by some leaders, saying events later proved that his predictions were accurate.

The legislator pointed to his earlier claims about changes in Parliament, arguing that those who doubted him eventually saw the changes happen.

Kabanda said the same critics should not ignore Gen Muhoozi’s growing influence, adding that the CDF has continued to attract support from young Ugandans.

He described Gen Muhoozi as a leader who has responded to calls from supporters asking him to offer himself for the presidency.

Kabanda urged senior leaders within the ruling NRM party to support what he called the “MK movement” instead of resisting it.

He said Gen Muhoozi’s supporters are preparing a nationwide mobilisation campaign aimed at collecting endorsements from Ugandans ahead of the 2031 elections.

According to Kabanda, the campaign will involve activities across all districts of Uganda, where supporters will be encouraged to sign endorsement documents backing Gen Muhoozi.

He said the target is to collect millions of signatures to demonstrate the level of support behind Gen Muhoozi’s presidential ambitions.

Kabanda also told supporters that President Museveni’s backing would play an important role in shaping the future political direction of the country.

The remarks have attracted public attention because they touch on the issue of presidential succession and the possibility of a leadership change in Uganda.

Supporters of Gen Muhoozi welcomed Kabanda’s statements, saying they believe he represents the future of Uganda’s leadership.

However, critics have questioned the claims, saying only President Museveni can speak for himself regarding his political plans and the future of the presidency.

The debate comes as political discussions about the 2031 elections continue to grow, with different groups beginning to position themselves for the future.

Gen Muhoozi, who currently serves as Chief of Defence Forces, has become increasingly active in public discussions and has gained a strong following among his supporters.

For now, President Museveni remains Uganda’s sitting president, while Gen Muhoozi has not officially announced a presidential bid.

Kabanda’s remarks have nevertheless added fresh energy to the ongoing debate about succession, leadership change and the future direction of Uganda’s politics.
