Kabanda made the revelation during a major political mobilization event involving members of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Members of Parliament, local leaders and supporters.

According to Kabanda, the issue of Muhoozi’s 2031 presidential bid has already been discussed between the General and President Museveni, with the President allegedly giving him the greenlight.

He further claimed that when the presidential race arrives, Museveni would not only support his son but would also take part in his campaign efforts.

The remarks have sparked widespread debate about Uganda’s political future and the possibility of a Muhoozi presidential bid after the 2026 election cycle.

Kabanda said Gen Muhoozi’s appearance at the event had been expected, but he failed to attend due to other commitments.

Despite Muhoozi’s absence, Kabanda used the opportunity to deliver a strong message to supporters, saying preparations for the future should begin early.

He revealed that supporters have started creating structures that could help mobilize backing for Muhoozi across the country.

Kabanda also announced that endorsement books carrying Muhoozi’s signature had been prepared for supporters and district coordinators.

He said the books would capture details of supporters, including their names, contacts, locations and reasons for supporting the General.

According to Kabanda, the records would serve as proof of those who stood with Muhoozi from the early stages of his political journey.

He warned that individuals who join the movement later should not expect the same recognition as those who supported it from the beginning.

The mobilization efforts are expected to spread across Uganda’s districts, with supporters being encouraged to organize endorsement activities.

Kabanda said those planning such activities would have to seek approval before receiving official materials and support.

He also spoke about an ambitious target among Muhoozi’s supporters, who believe they can build overwhelming national backing ahead of 2031.

Kabanda compared the movement to President Museveni’s own political history, saying successful political campaigns often start with small groups before expanding.

He cited Museveni’s early struggle, arguing that a small number of supporters eventually built a movement that has remained in power for more than four decades.

The claims have attracted mixed reactions from Ugandans, with supporters praising Muhoozi’s possible political future while critics question the idea of succession planning.

Gen Muhoozi has previously attracted public attention through his political comments and growing influence in national discussions.

Although Kabanda made the claims, Muhoozi has not officially declared his intention to run for president in 2031.

The remarks have nevertheless intensified discussions about Uganda’s next political chapter and the role Muhoozi could play in the country’s future leadership.
