Lumbuye, who has for years remained a prominent and controversial voice in Uganda’s online political space, says he is going through a difficult period and fears for his safety, alleging that the Ugandan government is hunting for him.

In his latest remarks, the blogger questioned why people he claims to have helped in the past have remained silent despite his current predicament.

Lumbuye said he has previously intervened to assist a number of Ugandans, including politicians and businesspeople, whom he says were facing danger or circumstances that could have threatened their lives.

According to the blogger, he expected some of the people who benefited from his assistance to remember him when he eventually found himself in need.

He expressed particular disappointment that those he once stood with have not publicly offered support or assistance as he struggles to find a way out of Turkey.

Lumbuye said the situation has left him asking difficult questions about the nature of relationships and solidarity among Ugandans, particularly when someone who once helped others becomes vulnerable himself.

The blogger suggested that he would have been encouraged to see former beneficiaries come forward and stand with him during what he describes as one of the most challenging periods of his life.

Instead, he says, there has been widespread silence.

His comments highlight the difficulties faced by Ugandan opposition activists, critics and political commentators living outside the country, particularly those who say they fear arrest or persecution if they return home.

However, Lumbuye’s claims that the government is actively hunting him and that he could be killed have not been independently established. Such allegations would require confirmation from relevant Ugandan authorities and other credible sources.

Lumbuye has previously attracted significant attention through his online broadcasts and political commentary, often making strong allegations against government officials and political leaders. His outspoken style has made him a widely discussed figure among Ugandans both at home and in the diaspora.

His latest appeal appears to be as much about personal disappointment as it is about his immediate circumstances.

The blogger’s message carries a broader complaint: that people often remember those who help them when times are good but may disappear when the person who offered assistance becomes the one seeking support.

For Lumbuye, the silence from people he says he once helped appears to have become one of the most painful aspects of his current situation.

As he continues to describe his circumstances in Turkey as difficult and dangerous, attention is likely to remain on whether any individuals, organisations or authorities will respond to his appeal.

For now, Lumbuye says he is facing the crisis largely alone—and is openly questioning why those he once helped are nowhere to be seen when he needs them most.
