As per a police statement reported by Kenyans.co.ke, the confrontation escalated to a point where the police officer decided to leave her home and report for duty at her nearby workplace.

The official police statement explained that the accused returned to their rented residence to check on her children after the argument. Allegedly, her husband, holding a knife, threatened to harm her.

In an act of self-defense, the police officer used her assigned work rifle to fire multiple shots at her husband. Responding officers arrived at the scene and determined that the man had been fatally shot.

The police statement indicated that the deceased, a 36-year-old Keiyo adult, was found lying face down in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds.

Under Kenyan law, if the police officer is found guilty of manslaughter, she could face a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. The law also stipulates that a person acting in self-defense, in a situation where their life is endangered, will not be held criminally responsible if their actions result in death.
