Looking at the weather projections from the Ministry of Water and Environment, which show that the country is likely to experience abnormal rainfall, with Kampala being vulnerable to floods, I would like to ask the Office of the Prime Minister and Kampala Capital City Authority to prepare excavators for exhuming human bodies when they are swept away in that area.
Yes, we can now claim to be fighting corruption in offices and in the field, but who is responsible for fixing that deadly drainage system, which is now threatening to kill Ugandans living in that area? Does KCCA wait to dress in gumboots, reflectors on their backs and masks, fearing a stinging smell, pretending to be looking for dead bodies, yet this should be avoided?
As we are fighting against corruption in offices, there is also physical corruption seen in Dubai Zone, Salama Road, in Makindye Division.
According to the locals living in that area, the water drainage channel on Salama Road, Dubai Zone, has spent many years without being repaired, yet KCCA officials keep passing over there, and to me, maybe they want to turn it into their swimming pool.
The drainage has become so deep, to about 7 metres, and most houses are too close to it.
I would like to ask KCCA and the Office of the Prime Minister to remember that prevention is better than cure. Run and repair that drainage system.
